3D Process
An approach to reducing incidents and increase safe behaviors and culture.

- Detect -
Make the person aware of what they were doing, ask “open” questions. The manner in which you approach and speak will determine the manner in which the individual responds.

-Discuss -
Agree the outcome, don’t immediately jump into telling them what to do unless the circumstances warrant it i.e. serious breaches. Ask questions like “what would you tell me to do if I was doing that”.

- Do -
Get an agreed action that the individual will own; it is more than just about holding the handrail, its about them becoming the ambassador to ensure that they will take the same approach when doing other activities.
